Telegram Launches Two New Web apps with Better Features and Design

Telegram has named its two apps as Telegram WebK and the Telegram WebZ. Users can send or make video calls on the new Telegram web apps. Both the apps look identical in terms of both features and looks. Therefore, it’s not quite clear now why Telegram launched two separate web apps.

However, if you take a closer look then you can see minute differences in the user interface of Telegram WebK and the Telegram WebZ. There are also a few differences feature-wise between the two apps. For starters, the WebK version allows users to mute calls but you can’t do so in the WebZ app.

In WebK, the search bar is white in colour, whereas, it is grey in the WebZ version. But one of the most important features of all, voice calling, is still missing from both apps. Notably, WhatsApp had launched a voice calling feature on its web app a few months ago. While Telegram hasn’t confirmed anything as of now, the company is likely to bring a voice calling feature to its web app soon with an update.

Aptitude Test Contest: Results

The results of the Aptitude Test Contest () are here!

This contest was one of the most involved, requiring that participants pass our evaluation tests to take part, and then demanding their constant attention for over 1.5 months.

We have split the entire remaining €250,000 Quiz Contest prize pool among those participants who completed all the tasks:

Participants had to design a set of 30-question Quizzes which tested three aptitude groups:

• English Language

• Mathematical Ability

• Spatial & Logical Thinking

They then reviewed 9 Quizzes from other participants (that's 270 questions) and submitted rebuttals – reflecting on the reviews their work received. Finally, Telegram Judges analyzed the content of each Quiz, its adherence to the rules and its overall usefulness. The quality of Peer Reviews and the validity of Rebuttals was also assessed.

All of these ratings produced a final Contest Score for each Quiz, between 1 and 4.3.
There are 4 reward tiers for this contest, per Quiz:

• – €3000 – Contest Score 4+
• – €1500 – Contest Score 3+
• – €500 – Contest Score 2.1+
• – €50 – Contest Score 2 and below

Bonuses were awarded for Outstanding Peer Reviews. Penalties were incurred for Unoriginal Content and Low-effort Peer Reviews.

Telegram is a feature-packed messaging app, many of which are privacy orientated features. One of the many abilities of Telegram is to hide personal details from people you message or those who are in common groups with you.

Hiding your phone number prevents strangers from getting your registered phone number and harassing you on Telegram or outside the platform. Here is how you can hide your Telegram number in a few easy steps.

How to hide your phone number on Telegram

Step 1: Open telegram, go to the setting

Open the Telegram app and pull out the hamburger menu from the right. Select the Settings option to enter Telegram Settings.

Step 2: Navigate to Privacy and Security

Under the Settings tab, find the ‘Privacy and Security’ section. Under this option, you will find the Privacy tab where you can select who can view various elements like your profile picture, last seen status and more.

Step 3: Change the ‘Phone Number’ setting to Nobody

Find the ‘Phone Number’ option and change the corresponding option to ‘Nobody’ if you want complete privacy. Alternatively, you can also set it to ‘My Contacts’, making your number visible to only those whose number you already have saved in your contacts. If you set it to nobody, a new option will pop up below asking who can find your account using your number. You can choose either Everybody or My Contacts in this option.

Bonus tip

The same section of privacy settings can also be used to hide a number of other details that can be used to harass you or track you down. These include your profile picture, your last seen and online status. You can even decide who can call you and add you to groups from this section.
