Telegram has announced a major update introducing ultra-secure group calling features, raising the bar for privacy and large-scale communication on messaging platforms.
The new feature enhances group call security by incorporating not just end-to-end encryption, but also blockchain-like verification mechanisms. This ensures that no third party — including Telegram itself — can join a call without detection. According to the company, this innovation eliminates the risk of unauthorized eavesdropping.
"With this update, users get a level of security that’s never been available in mainstream group calls before," Telegram stated in its official blog post.
Up to 200 Participants — and More
Telegram group calls now support up to 200 participants, whether for one-on-one calls or group discussions. Users can join via invite links, QR codes, or direct invitations — making it simple to onboard participants quickly. For even larger gatherings, Telegram’s group voice and video chats, which have been available since 2021, can support tens of thousands of participants — making the platform a viable solution for large-scale events, classes, and online communities.
